  • Blake Tang CEO Coach, Leadership Expert

    Dr. Tang is an internationally known expert, mentor, coach, trainer and consultant specializing in leadership in a global context. He is the creator of Synergic Inquiry methodology and Synergic Coaching which has been applied to different settings in different nations and cultures. He has mentored or coached many top executives from over many different countries (e.g., USA, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Belgium, Japan, Korea, Singapore, England, Sweden, Finland, Denmark). And he has provided mentoring, coaching or training services to over 800 managers and leaders who are local Chinese. He is also an experienced OD consultants. Within 6 months, he played a strategic and instrumental role in helping Becker Guangzhou operation to become a world-class organization in terms of revenue per capita, profit per capita, and rate of growth. Due to his strategic guidance Becker Group set up a new business unit which has become the future of the group. As part of the outcomes, many leaders (both international and Chinese) are promoted to take bigger responsibilities for the business. Currently he is still coaching the core leaders to expand their capacities and skills, in the meantime being their strategic guide. In 2006, he was the first Chinese author to be published by the famous SAGE publishing house, publishing a handbook on and in 2009 his new book on leadership development is being published.

  • Clayton Dube
    Clayton Dube has headed the USC U.S.-China Institute (china.usc.edu) since it was established in 2006. The institute focuses on the multidimensional and evolving U.S.-China relationship. Mr. Dube was trained as a socio-economic historian. His work has focused on the impact of economic and political change on Chinese society and on the multifaceted and evolving U.S.-China relationship. He has lived in China for five years (1982-85 and 1991-1992) and visited dozens of times for research, to lead delegations and to lecture and participate in conferences. Clayton has been committed to informing public discussion about China and about the U.S.-China relationship.
     
    Mr. Dube was associate editor of the academic journal Modern China and oversaw the web publication AsiaMedia. He currently directs Asia Pacific Arts, and US-China Today. He has produced and consulted on several documentaries, including the institute’s Assignment:China series on American media coverage of China from the 1940s to today. He writes the institute’s Talking Points column and is frequently cited in the U.S. and Chinese press. Clayton co-moderated Chinapol, a private discussion list for academics, journalists, policy analysts, and government officials.
     

    Clayton was educated at San Diego State University and UCLA. He has won teaching awards at three universities and received the 2012 Perryman Fund Social Studies Educator of the Year Award. He has written guides to teaching about China’s past and present and serves on the editorial board of Education about Asia. He is a fellow of the USC Center on Public Diplomacy and a director of the National Consortium for Teaching about Asia. He’s frequently cited by American and Chinese media.   • Dr. Lianlian Lin

    Lianlian Lin, Ph.D., LL.M. is an Advisory Board member of USAChina Investments Group and the Academic Advisor for the USCI Global Leadership Program for Chinese Executives.  As management professor, she has been teaching at California State Polytechnic University Pomona since 1992.  She was chair of Retention, Tenure and Promotion (RTP) Committee at her college and department respectively and interim director of International Education Program at Cal Poly Pomona.  Her student donated scholarship in honor of her.  She was visiting professor at Guanghua School of Management and HSBC Business School at Peking University respectively.  Before she came to the U.S., she was law faculty at Fudan University in Shanghai. Her research articles appear in Yale Journal of International Law, and University of Pennsylvania Journal of International Economic Law.  

    She has offered many advanced management training seminars to numerous Chinese executives and governmental officials in the U.S. and China, including Fortune 500 Global Companies, enterprise associations, provincial party schools, Peking University, Fudan University, Renmin University of China, Tsinghua Zijing Forum, Chinese Academy of Social Science, etc.  She is currently president of U.S. International Talent Association and executive vice president of Chinese American Federation.  She served as president of a number of professional organizations, including Chinese Scholars Association and Chinese American Faculty Association Scholarship Foundation in Southern California.  She was invited to attend welcome banquets for China President Jiang、Premier Zhu、Vice President Xi when they visited Los Angeles respectively.  She received a number of outstanding leadership and service awards and her profile has been included in a number of Who’s Who books in U.S. and in the world.  She received her Ph.D. at University of Texas at Austin, LL.M. at University of Pennsylvania Law School, M.A. in international finance at Fudan University, and B.A. in political economics at Liaoning University.

  • Dr. Steven Le

    Dr. Steven Le is an Advisory Board member of USAChina Investments Group and an Academic Advisor of the USCI Global Leadership Program in the area of investment management and capital formation. Dr. Steven Le has over 30 years of experience in the areas of financial analysis, securities analysis, and portfolio management. Dr. Le was a key member of a corporate strategic planning team for a multibillion-dollar asset company in Kansas City (1977-1979), Director of Economics at the State of Maryland, USA (1979-1982), and Managing Director of a national economic consulting firm in Washington, DC (1983-1985).

     

    Since 1985, Dr. Le has served as a Professor at the College of Business Administration, California State University, Long Beach and was the Chairman of the Department of Finance, Real Estate and Law (1992-1993) (2010-2012). He has served on the graduate faculty of economics and finance at a number of universities including Virginia Tech and University of Baltimore (Maryland). Dr. Le completed his post-graduate study at Harvard University in Finance and Investment Decisions.

     

    Prior to the 1993 Economic Summit in Tokyo, Dr. Le was invited by the Russian Ministry of Finance to visit Russia and Ukraine to assess the current economic development and processes by which these countries are moving toward a free market system. In 1997, Dr. Le was invited to present a paper "Lessons from the Financial Crisis in the United States, South America and Asia" at the Financial & Economics Conference, sponsored by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, in Beijing (China). This paper was subsequently published in the China Economic Times. In 1999-2002, Dr. Le was appointed Chief Advisor to the United Nations and led a team of experts to provide assistance in the privatization process and stimulate the economic growth in Asia.

     

    Dr. Le has testified in more than forty telecommunications and utility regulatory proceedings in a number of states as an expert witness in the areas of finance and investments concerning the securities market and NYSE companies. He has authored over twenty articles, monographs, and technical papers and appeared as a guest speaker on economics and investment issues for a number of TV and radio programs.

  • Jeff A. Brueggemann

    Jeff A Brueggemann has had 17 years of business interests in China. His initial work was as an analyst and Portfolio Manager of a highly successful China Equity Hedge Fund, with annual returns far above the peer averages. Jeff left the fund in order to start a consulting firm that included a private China Equity Newsletter for clients in Europe and United States. Performance again was annually in excess of peer comparisons. One of his consulting contracts included spending parts of two years travelling with an economic advisor to the Bush administration through many parts of China meeting with government officials and business executives. His most recent consulting arrangement was with Major League Baseball. As part of developing baseball in China, Jeff opened up the first two Development Centers in mainland China as Head Coach and a key American representative for MLB.

    Prior to Jeff’s business experiences in China, he spent thirteen years in general business and financial management. Jeff was Controller and Special Projects Coordinator for Kemper Mutual Funds, one of the largest mutual fund companies in the world from 1987-1996. Jeff spent ten years involved in professional baseball as a player and Minor League General Manager. Jeff played as high as AAA for the Minnesota Twins organization and in Mexico and was named Minor League Executive of the Year in 1984 in the California League as GM of the Visalia franchise.

    Jeff earned a BBA-Accounting from Stetson University, studied Economics at the University of Chicago and received an MBA in International Finance from the University of Kansas. He also holds a CPA certificate from the State of Illinois and passed the Series 65 Investor Advisor Exam in Missouri. He has spent most of five years living in China and has a rudimentary knowledge of Mandarin.

  • Lijie Zhu

    Ms. Zhu has more than 10 years’ experience in the financial and media industry in America, Europe and Asia. She was Vice Director of The Council of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Chief Financial Officer for a US listed Chinese company, a credit analyst for Rogge Global Partners in London, and a financial analyst for Aufhauser Securities in New York. She also worked as a business reporter for China Center Television (CCTV) and China News Service. Ms. Zhu is a frequently invited speaker for international conferences and universities. She graduated with a MBA and a MS degree from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and a BA degree in Journalism and a Law Degree from Lanzhou University in China. Lijie Zhu was honored as one of the 50 Outstanding Asian Americans in Business 2011 by the Asian American Business Development Center (AABDC).

  • Jing Liao

    Jing Liao is the senior vice president of human resources at TriNet. In this role, she leads all of TriNet’s corporate human resources functions with a strong focus on talent management, company culture and scalable processes. Liao brings extensive executive leadership experience to TriNet, along with a proven track record of building world-class HR functions in high-growth companies. She consistently has led the establishment of fast-paced, team-oriented and results-driven cultures that enabled strong corporate performance.

     

    Previously, Liao was the vice president, global human resources at Atmel (NASDAQ: ATML), where she led the global HR function, to establish and drive a winning culture that enabled the high performance and success of the company. Before joining Atmel, Liao served as vice president of global human resources for Avanex, where she was responsible for architecting and establishing an HR department tasked to support the restructuring and growth plan of the company. Earlier, she held HR leadership positions at Hyperion, JDS Uniphase and Adaptec.

     

    Liao received an M.A. degree in Human Resources and Industrial Relations from the University of Minnesota, Carlson School of Business and a B.S. Degree in Chemistry from Peking University, China. She serves on the Board Executive Compensation Committee at El Camino Hospital, is the co-chair of the San Francisco Executive HR Forum and is on the Advisory Board of the HR and Industry Relations department at the University of Minnesota.

  • Philip Hu

    Philip Hu is the founder and President of Transpacific Financial Inc., founded in 1994 and headquartered in Southern California. Philip is licensed in the state of California as an insurance broker, real estate broker and FINRA licensed broker-dealer.   • Shan Zhu

    Mr. Zhu Shan founded China Bridge Group in 2011 and has led the company become a leading professional service provider in China’s private equity industry. Mr. Zhu previously was Chief Operating Officer of New China Financial Media, where he was responsible for daily operation of the Chinese financial media company. Prior to New China Financial Media, Mr. Zhu was the Managing Director of FTSE China Index, successfully making the Company the leading China stock index provider in both domestic and overseas markets with creation of a number of first ever index investment products for China stock market, including A50 ETF traded in Hong Kong Stock Exchange and A50 Index Futures contracts traded in Singapore Stock Exchange. Zhu Shan currently sits on the board of trustees of The Masters School in New York. Mr. Zhu holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Luoyang Foreign Studies College, a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree from Kennedy School of Harvard University and an Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) degree from Guanghua Management School of Peking University.

  • Steve Townes

    Mr. Townes is a well-known aerospace/defense entrepreneur with 34 years of civilian industrial experience building large scale aerospace services operations in both the DoD and commercial services sectors. He is also a member of the South Carolina Aerospace Task Force, an initiative by the SC Secretary of Commerce and Governor for expanding the aerospace/defense industry in the state, with 7 CEO’s and 3 flag officers.

     

    He was CEO and founder of Ranger International Services Group for 4 years prior to the Berger Group buyout in 2012. That business, which tripled in size prior to the buyout, is now called Louis Berger Services Inc., employs approximately 1,000 professionals and operates in several aerospace/defense technical services sectors. Steve subsequently led the add-on acquisition of Hawthorne Services, Inc. As CEO and founder of Ranger Aerospace for 17 years, Townes led Ranger’s efforts since inception in early 1997 in exemplary ventures such as the successful acquisition and doubled growth of Aircraft Service International Group (“ASIG”) to over 4,200 employees, and the tripling of Keystone Helicopter to over $135 Million.

     

    Ranger Aerospace, a private equity management company, earned a national reputation as an aggressive builder of profitable, accelerated-growth businesses. With ASIG, Townes and the Ranger team transformed the business to become ranked best in class worldwide, as it expanded to 56 airports and 30 fuel depots in North America and Europe. With Keystone, Townes and the Ranger team drove growth efforts that resulted in the tripling of revenues and near-quadrupling of profits in 5 years, and near-quintupling of enterprise value. Each large Ranger company followed a quality-first, highly principled growth strategy, and was eventually sold to major strategic buyers; each then continued expanding on the Ranger growth initiatives.

     

    The newest venture, Louis Berger Services, is now the internal consolidation platform for all of Berger Group’s operations & maintenance units, with the goal of building a $500 Million enterprise by the year 2020.

     

    Prior to starting Ranger Aerospace in March 1997, he held senior roles in aerospace/defense companies such as LTV Aerospace & Defense, Stevens Aviation, and Sabreliner Corp. Townes is a West Point graduate, earned an M.B.A. at Long Island University, and is a PMD alumnus of Harvard Business School. He is experienced in Congressional liaison, public relations/corporate communications, FAA and NTSB testimony, has been a featured speaker at national-level industry and financial symposia, and in various industry and financial press articles. Ranger’s past exploits earned “Deal of the Year” and “Deal of the Decade awards by M&A Magazine, and yielded superior returns to Private Equity shareholders. He earned the Eisenhower Award upon graduation from West Point, and served in the Army’s Rangers and with Colombia’s Lanceros as a young officer before commencing his distinguished Aerospace/Defense and Private Equity career. With operations in numerous time zones around the world, Townes has extensive international business experience in Latin America, Middle East, Europe, and elsewhere.

  • Wesley Clark

    Wesley Clark is chairman and CEO of strategic consulting firm Wesley K. Clark & Associates, a retired Army general and former supreme allied commander of NATO. He is also co-chairman of Growth Energy, a senior fellow at the Burkle Center of the University of California at Los Angeles, advisor to the Blackstone Group, director of the International Crisis Group, founding chairman of City Year Little Rock/North Little Rock and chairman of Enverra Inc. The author of three books, Clark also serves on numerous corporate boards and on the advisory board of the Clinton Global Initiative's Energy and Climate Change project and of ACORE.
